Built in the early 20th century by a wealthy American woman and fitted out by an experienced Hindu designer, the Château des Avenières has always aroused plenty of curiosity. Now a charming, characterful hotel, it welcomes guests in search of tranquillity and discreet enjoyment as well as anyone who relishes an exquisite emotional experience or a sense of mystery. Originally an area of small clearings used to cultivate oats, Les Avenières was suddenly pushed into the limelight one fine summer`s afternoon in 1904.
A melancholy young American woman was walking on the slopes of the Salève with some friends when she was suddenly struck by the exceptional beauty of the view. She made her decision there and then. She would build a shrine dedicated to her younger sister, who had died at an early age. Located between Annecy (30 minutes) and Geneva (20 minutes) in the village of Cruseilles in the Haute Savoie region, the Domaine des Avenières estate stands at the crossroads of Europe. Italy, Switzerland and Germany are all within easy reach.

At the heart of the woods and meadows, nestled in a lush green setting, the Domaine des Avenières is an ideal location spread across 62 ha with a view from Mont Blanc to the Lac d`Annecy for relaxing and enjoyable breaks. Laurence and Nicolas Odin, the pleasant Hosts of the establishment, along with their faithful companions are awaiting you to share in the magic of their home and the magnificent flavours of their cuisine. Nearby, the cities of Annecy and Geneva compete with tempting charms… Geneva has much to offer with its cruises on the Léman Lake, its luxury boutiques, museums and evenings at the Opera. Whilst Annecy offers languid strolls along the canals, its Italian-style old town, its museum, and the superb lake.

At the Domaine we have been careful not to lose our identity. Yet we still offer all the finest services and modern comforts. The 4-star-hotel offers 12 rooms, each with its own special character and 6 flexible suites. All rooms have safe, ADSL Internet, cable and satellite television and minibar. In addition the hotel has a Gourmet restaurant with terrace, rooms for seminars and receptions, fitness area, sauna, hammam, massages, a private 62-hectare park, outside ornemental lake, terrace, tennis court and a lift.

Enjoy the Gourmet Restaurant: A constant search for perfection in catering as well. A business meeting or a romantic dinner for two? Finely carved woodwork like that of yesteryear, an elegant ambience…the main dining room is a special place. With its monumental fireplace and crackling wood fire, the Alchimistes room is a place to whisper sweet nothings.
